Oh Sew Busy
November 19, 2012 — Hi everyone. Trying to get back in gear. I apologize for the lack of blogging. It’s the holiday season and OhSewCrafty is back in full swing!! Orders are streaming in, with sewing, knitting and now VINYL!! I am sew excited about the vinyl, another tool added to our collective shed. Lots of new stuff, and as always, IF YOU CAN THINK IT, WE CAN MAKE IT! Drop us a post on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/2OhSewCrafty or simply email us with your idea. We appreciate all of the support for OhSew..keep it coming. I only have 3 months left in Germany, then it’s America bound. Look for lots of new things once that happens…back to the land of craft stores. See y’all soon.Dec 24th 2011- Merry Christmas Eve- I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful holiday season. To repeat what Heather said, we have had a great time with all the orders that have been flying in, I have become a pro at messenger bags and totes and even getting pretty good at PJ pants- have created a few new items such as scrunchies to match the pj pants. I don’t have any pics yet but am getting there. It’s hard to believe we are now in full Valentine’s Day mode. We will be ready to help you make your loved ones day extra special. New jewelry items will be coming soon- don’t forget Mom or Daughters this Valentine’s Day.
Hello again! Sorry it has been so long since our last blog. To put it lightly, business has been booming and we’ve been sewing away. Thanks to all of our great friends and customers for the support over this holiday season!!! I have been working mainly on Superhero Cape orders, man are those things popular. But mixed in with my latest projects are special order Christmas Jammie sets, and always trying to fit in new projects to put upload to our site too.
Life has been good, a little busy but good. I am getting better at balancing school, work and family. Though there’s usually something thrown in there unexpected, but hey, keeps life interesting. Christmas projects are so much fun. I decided to try my hand as fabric baskets for teacher’s gifts, and I was really happy with them, so expect some to be coming on site soon.
I can’t believe Christmas is only a week away. My little monsters are crazy with excitement. They have been asking everyday if it’s Christmas day yet. We took them all to see Santa, the girls were all about seeing the big man. Cole, was a different story, a little scared this year.
And this year, instead of just Chaela helping me in the kitchen, I have three extra pair of hands. Cole was upset because he didn’t have an apron, so that’s at the top of my list. Going to make him a little man apron for the baking over Christmas break.
Well, I know this has been short, but I have more sewing and baking to do, but we LOVE feedback! Let us know what you think of our products and we are always open to suggestions.

A little more about me, since I know you are all dying to know all about me- LOL- I work in the tech support field generally for software companies, so no I cannot fix your computer- HA HA. I have been working from home for the past 5 years or so and it allows me the time that I need to sew and do what I truly love. I am just about to finish up my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, my dream job would be to work in a cyber crime unit for the FBI, or a well known Craft Guru- LOL. I started sewing just to give myself a hobby and when Heather and I realized we were both doing the same thing, we decided to create a website and sell the stuff we were making. Where Heather is generally the clothes and toys and totes specialist, I tend to do more of the Jewelry and Quilts, although I have been spreading my wings and have even managed a pair of Pajama pants that I must say came out pretty dang good.
What a great feeling of accomplishment that was, I even got brave and made ”Bubba” a customized Snuggie – LOL I’m getting brave in my old age.I suppose I should also mention I am quickly becoming a couponing guru as well. Have been filling my shelves and even some closets with lots of household items, toiletries and food, and am paying next to nothing for them. I have helped several friends get their start with couponing and am having a blast with it- HMMMM, maybe a class or two is in order to help all those with questions- but that will have to hold for another day.
Today, I should get back to work, have lots of fun projects to get done for all our wonderful customers/ friends. Hopefully I can get a bit more organized and can post more often.
Take care
Shelly
Nov 18 - Hi and welcome to the first of many blogs by us, OhSewCrafty. It’s Heather here for our introductory article. Shelly and I will both be checking in to write about what new sewing and crafting projects we are trying and ideas for future projects. We will also share with you a little about ourselves, the struggling balance of running a small business, and what we are up to in our daily lives. We are always looking forward to new and unique project ideas and encourage all of our readers and customers to let us know what you are thinking too. We also want to take this opportunity to reach out to our fellow crafters and seamstresses. Are you a beginner, or even an expert seamstress and are stuck on something, cant’ figure something out? Shoot us a reply to the blog; surely between us and all of our supporters we will be able to figure it out.
For our initial entry, I thought it would be good to tell you a little about myself. Sew, here goes my first attempt at blogging…
Many of our customers already know me; I am from Kentucky (GO CATS)! I am 33 years old. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. I am a mother of three crazy, wonderful kids and my family is my life. My oldest daughter, Chaela is constantly busy, talking my ears off, slowly losing teeth, and has already begun sewing. We have 3 ½ year old twins, Cole and Kenzie, who are my monsters. They eagerly pushed their way into this world early and their energy has not slowed down at all. All three keep me on my toes, and I love making new clothes, toys or projects for and with the kids.
I am former Army, my husband, Brian, is still in, a helicopter pilot. We are stationed in Germany now and though we miss our families and the great U. S of A tremendously, we are blessed to have had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. I can only hope our kids will remember and treasure the times we have spent here. But, did I mention we miss home?
My struggles of late have been to balance our ever-growing business, being a mom, a wife, and just recently, a student. I decided to start on my MBA. I hope this will give me a little more knowledge of how the business world works, and that OhSewCrafty can benefit from it. If I could sit and sew all day, I would. I remembered yesterday, getting many different projects completed and started, that it is very relaxing, at least when things are going right. One big accomplishment I have to share is I finally did a ZIPPER!! WOOOHOOO. Some of you know I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, but with any new technique comes nervousness for me and always procrastination. Now that I’ve tackled my first zipper I am ready to add that into my bag of tricks.
Well, I guess that’s it for now. I’ll try not to “talk your ears off”, hmm, I wonder where Chaela gets it. Look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks.
Heather

Wow! The purse with initial and the monster zip bag that you made for Sydney is absolutely precious! It is so well made and the coordinating fabrics are so cute. What talent!

Hi ladies. One of you is related to the crazy lady driving a silver car around the park here with an “Oh Sew Crafty” sticker on it. She’s a great lady and we are enjoying line dancing together and both have quilting as a primary interest. Dean is shown in my latest post which tells about our baby blanket blitz. I thought you might like to see some photos of her and the group doing our wild blanket making.
Good luck with the business and the schooling! Marsha
