OhSewCrafty.com is proud to support a new fundraising effort, the Support the Stork campaign.  The campaign will run until May 1^, 2012.  Support the Stork is to aid families attempting pregnancy through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).  Heather Curtis, co-founder of OhSewCrafty, having successfully conceived with infertility issues herself, is on a mission to help other wonderful couples build their own families.

Support the Stork is not only merely accepting donations for IVF couples.  The campaign is set to raise awareness of the expense of fertility treatments in the United States, which average more than $10,000 per treatment cycle.  Infertility affects approximately 6.1 million individuals throughout the United States.  Many families struggle with the financial aspect of IVF.  Support the Stork will offer financial aid to those faced with infertility and trying to conceive through IVF.

Support the Stork is setting it’s fundraising sites to raise $20,000.  “The more money we raise, the more beautiful babies can be welcomed into wonderful families,” Curtis said.  OhSewCrafty.com is selling limited edition; handmade “Mommy and Baby” doll sets for $19.99, all proceeds of doll sales are going to the Support the Stork fundraising campaign.  An international “Support the Stork Quilt Auction” will be held in March 2012; all proceeds from the auction will be contributed to families facing infertility. Show your team spirit

OhSewCrafty, a local and online crafting business, is holding a “Quilt for Katy” Auction. The auction runs online from now until 12 p.m. EST, Friday November 11th. Katy Murphy, Littleton, MA, is an adventurous, loving, fun four-year-old who is waiting for a new heart. The auction is reaching throughout the country, but not stopping there. The auction has reached out across the ocean, with participants Germany. All proceeds of the auction will go to the “Be A Rock for Katy” fund. The handmade, queen size quilt, with matching pillowcases, is being auctioned at www.OhSewCrafty.com. The starting bid is $250, but OhSewCrafty is out to raise as much as possible for Katy and her family.

“Our heart strings were pulled when a friend of mine told me about a family member, Katy. Heather and I decided we wanted to help this family since we are both mothers ourselves,” said Shelly Sommers, owner of Oh Sew Crafty.

The “Be A Rock For Katy” fund supports the family in paying medical bills, parking at hospital garage, special clothes Katy needs for medical equipment, paying rent, and putting food on the Murphy’s table. Katy’s illness makes it impossible for her mom, Aimee, to work. Her father, Mike, works and balances spending time with Katy and taking care of their youngest son, Patrick. In a perfect world the Murphy’s would not have to worry about money in this situation, they would be able to buy a cup of coffee while waiting at the hospital. The world is not perfect, and OhSewCrafty is raising awareness and funds for Katy and her family.
